2009, What a year already!
Well we're not even one month into 2009 and it's already been a landmark year in more than one way. What will the rest of the year bring?!?!
I'm so excited that the Cardinals are going to the Superbowl. It's still almost unbelievable. I'll be the first to admit that I am NOT typically a Cardinals fan. I just don't normally enjoy the games but what really made me not a Cardinals fan is having them here at NAU every summer for training camp. I live in the same building where the Cardinals reside while they're in town and while at first I thought it was pretty cool to be able to say that, I changed my mind pretty quickly. Unfortunately, some of them are really disrespectful of the school grounds and the people here. Of course, I'm not saying that about all of them but it just ruined all the fun. Anyway.... I'm still very happy for them and I'm excited that Arizona finally has a team to root for in the Superbowl and of course I'm rooting for them 100% in the game.
For a little while in the NFC Championship game, I thougth the Cardinals might have lost it but they pulled it through. There was a really bad call at the end of the game that might have changed things a little bit but I think the Cardinals would have pulled it out anyway. So now.... the Superbowl party plans are underway. ;)
Next up.... The USA has finally elected her first African-American PresidentPicture: President Barack Obama dances with his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama to ‘At Last’ at their first Inauguration ball on Inauguration dayIt was the most interesting election year that I've ever experienced. Running against John McCain (AZ Senator) made things even more interesting! For various reasons, I would have been very unhappy had McCain been elected to office. As much as I like Obama, my dislike of McCain was probably more of a deciding factor for me than anything else. I have high hopes for Obama's years in office. Like any other President, only time
will tell if electing him was the right choice for America. He's quite a change from the Presidents we have had in the past and I hope that he brings the same change to America. Clearly... we need change right now. The sooner we see some economic relief the better. As things get tighter around the nation, problems keep hitting closer to home for me and my family.Picture to the right: Then-President-elect Obama meets with then-President George W. I watched the Superbowl last year, the first Superbowl I ever watched and it was pretty fun. I think I will skip this one next Sunday. I don't care about the Cardinals and I am always annoyed when they are in town for the camp, makes things crazy with traffic. Haha. I am not a sports fan in general but I do go watch my husbands games a couple times a month. He plays basketball so I guess I am not completely hopeless. About Obama, I think for ONE thing... when he talks he sounds a HECK of a lot more like a president than Bush ever did. That's a start right?
